As a trendy material for wedding band rings, Tungsten Carbide is still not very well known. Here we would like to explain why Tungsten Carbide Rings are superior option – especially when compared to Titanium Rings.

Hardness – Tungsten Carbide is one of the hardest material.  Its hardness scale is around 8 in the scale of 10 with diamond being the hardest.  It is a few times harder compared to stainless steel and titanium. Under extreme circumstances, it can be damaged by abrasion from diamonds.

Ductility – Titanium is more ductile than tungsten in general. Therefore, under high pressure situation such as hitting hard in crash, a tungsten carbide ring will fracture into several pieces while a titanium ring can be bend out-of-round.  So tungsten carbide ring is safer to wear.

Biocompatibility – Titanium is one of the most biocompatible material and is safe to wear for everybody. And for Tungsten Carbide, it may use cobalt or nickel as the binding alloy. In the Tungsten Carbide Rings sold at TheChinaInventory.com, we use nickel as the binding alloy and no cobalt.

Weight – Titanium is a lot lighter compared to Tungsten. Titanium is around 43% lighter compared to Stainless Steel while Tungsten Carbide is around 90% heavier than Stainless Steel.

Color – Most Titanium Jewelry comes in Gray or Black. And Tungsten Carbide Jewelry normally comes in Silver or Black.

Engraving and Resizing – Tungsten Carbide is too hard to be engraved properly, thus only laser printing is possible.
